Roles and Responsibility

  • Food Preparation:

    2. Assisting chefs with basic cooking tasks like mixing, stirring, or grilling.

  • Maintaining Cleanliness:

    1. Keeping workstations, counters, and kitchen surfaces clean.
    2. Washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
    3. Ensuring garbage and waste are properly disposed of.

  • Stocking and Organizing:

    1. Storing food items in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
    2. Organizing pantry items and ensuring ingredients are easily accessible
    3. Labeling and dating food items to ensure freshness.

  • Assisting in Food Service:

    1. Helping with plating dishes, garnishing, and preparing food for service.
    2. Monitoring food portions and quality control before dishes are served.

  • Equipment Handling:

    1. Operating kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, and fryers.
    2. Regularly cleaning and maintaining kitchen appliances.

  • Receiving and Storing Deliveries:

    1. Checking deliveries to ensure all ordered items are received and in good condition.
    2. Stocking items and organizing the kitchen according to the storage guidelines.

  • Following Health and Safety Standards:

    1. Complying with food safety and hygiene regulations.
    2. Wearing appropriate safety gear such as gloves and aprons.
    3. Reporting any hazards or maintenance issues.

Barista

Roles and Responsibility

  • Beverage Preparation:

    1. Preparing coffee and espresso drinks, such as lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, and americanos, following standard recipes.
    2. Grinding coffee beans and calibrating the espresso machine for the perfect shot.
    3. Steaming and frothing milk to the right consistency for each drink type.
    4. Preparing other beverages like teas, smoothies, and iced drinks as required.

  • Customer Service:

    1. Greeting customers warmly and providing menu information or suggestions based on their preferences.
    2. Taking orders accurately and ensuring customer needs are met.
    3. Handling customer complaints or special requests in a professional and friendly manner.
    4. Building rapport with regular customers and remembering their preferences.

  • Cash Handling:

    1. Operating the cash register or POS (Point of Sale) system.
    2. Processing payments (cash, credit cards, mobile payments) and providing correct change.
    3. Managing receipts, balancing the register, and handling tips appropriately.

  • Maintaining Cleanliness and Hygiene:

    1. Keeping the coffee bar and work area clean and organized..
    2. Cleaning and maintaining equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.
    3. Washing dishes, cups, and utensils used for beverage preparation.

  • Stock Management:

    1. Monitoring inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
    2. Replenishing stock as needed and ensuring the bar is fully equipped.
    3. Properly storing ingredients and ensuring they are fresh and up to date.

  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

    1. Setting up, operating, and shutting down equipment properly.
    2. Performing basic troubleshooting and maintenance on machines (e.g., descaling the espresso machine).
    3. Reporting any equipment malfunctions or needed repairs to the manager.

  • Quality Control:

    1. Ensuring drinks are made to the highest quality standards, both in taste and presentation.
    2. Following standard operating procedures to maintain consistency across all beverages.

Cake Designer Intern

Roles and Responsibility

  • Assisting with Cake Decoration

    1. Supporting the cake designer with basic cake decorating tasks such as applying base icing layers, piping, and creating fondant shapes.
    2. Helping to prepare and apply various types of decorations like buttercream flowers, fondant figures, and edible images.
    3. Following specific instructions to ensure designs are created as requested by the client.
  • Learning and Practicing Design Techniques::

    1. Learning basic and advanced decorating techniques, including piping, stenciling, airbrushing, and creating 3D elements.
    2. Practicing design sketches and techniques under the guidance of senior designers.
    3. Developing a personal portfolio of design samples, including sketches and finished cakes.

  • Preparing Ingredients and Materials:

    1. Measuring and preparing ingredients for cake batter, fillings, and icings.
    2. Coloring fondant, gum paste, and buttercream to match specific design requirements.
    3. Preparing tools and equipment required for cake decoration, such as piping bags, tips, and stencils.

  • Assisting in Cake Assembly:

    1. Stacking and assembling cakes of various sizes and shapes under supervision.
    2. Ensuring that cakes are level, stable, and properly constructed.
    3. Helping transport cakes to different areas of the kitchen or to display counters.

  • Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization:

    1. Keeping the decorating workstation clean and organized.
    2. Cleaning and maintaining equipment used for cake decoration, such as turntables, spatulas, and piping tips.
    3. Properly storing ingredients and ensuring they are kept fresh and safe.

  • Customer Support and Interaction:

    1. Assisting in customer consultations to discuss design ideas, themes, and color schemes.
    2. Supporting designers in preparing samples and design sketches for client approval.
    3. Helping with basic customer service tasks such as answering phone calls or emails related to cake orders.

  • Adhering to Food Safety Standards:

    1. Following food safety and hygiene regulations when handling ingredients and preparing cakes.
    2. Using proper sanitation practices when decorating cakes to ensure safety and quality.
  • Participating in Creative Design Projects:

    1. Contributing ideas and suggestions during brainstorming sessions for new cake designs and themes.
    2. Assisting in research and trend analysis to stay updated on popular cake styles and decorating methods.
    3. Helping create dummy cakes or display pieces for promotional events or showcases.

  • Assisting with Orders and Inventory:

    1. Helping track inventory levels for decorating supplies, such as fondant, coloring agents, and specialty tools.
    2. Assisting with receiving and organizing new supplies.

  • Learning from Mentorship:

    1. Actively seeking feedback and guidance from senior cake designers and decorators.
    2. Participating in workshops, tutorials, and hands-on training sessions provided by the bakery or shop.

  • Contributing to Teamwork:

    1. Communicating effectively with other staff members.
